One hundred years ago
today, after days artillery bombardment to provide cover, the Austro-Hungarian army
completed construction of pontoon bridges across the Sava and Drina rivers,
which formed the border between Austro-Hungary and Serbia. Upon completion of the bridges
the Austro-Hungarian army crossed the border and launch a major invasion into Serbia.
Britain respond that day by declaring war on Austria-Hungary.
